PRINCIPAL
MAURICIO ARIAS
Starting his design career at the school of architecture of the Universidad de los Andes in Bogota, Colombia, where Mauricio was born and grew up, he completed two years before emigrating to the United States. After graduating with a BFA from the Academy of Art University of San Francisco, he travelled to Europe and South America where he worked as a design consultant. In 1979 he began work at Regis Mc Kenna in Palo Alto as designer and creative director for the Apple Computer account during the development and launch of the company's new corporate identity and first advertising campaign, working directly with Steve Jobs.
In 1980 he co-founded Arias + Sarraille an internationally recognized, award winning and full service design firm specializing in brand development and brand identity with a specialty in the luxury sector of the Hotel Industry.
In 1990 Mauricio founded Arias Associates Design Consultants in Palo Alto, California. Since, under his creative leadership, the firm has expanded its client list globally and collected many industry awards for design excellence. In the fall of 2009, he and his family relocated to Florence, Italy where he conducted studies of printmaking at the renowned Il Bisonte, Scuola Internazionale per l'Arte Grafica. In 2012, Mauricio established a branch of Arias Associates in the Amsterdam area to serve clients in Europe. During this time he has also pursued his long time passion for drawing and painting.
